Purpose

Saybrook University's University Learning Experience (ULE) Model is composed of three experiences. The Residential Learning Experience (RLE) required for our clinical programs. Offered twice per year (start of fall and spring semester), the RLE takes place in the LA area and engages students with faculty, staff, and community to practice clinical skills and engage and in formal and informal meetings and discussions with faculty, advisors, and peers. The Virtual Learning Experience (VLE) is offered twice per year for all other programs; it is required for some programs and recommended for all. The VLE brings students, faculty, and amazing speakers together and is designed to orient students to their semester coursework while providing opportunities to participate in professional development and learn about university support services.

Once every two years (falls of odd years), Saybrook offers the Community Learning Experience (CLE). This is our signature event—the RLE takes place in conjunction with the CLE; the VLE is replaced by the CLE. Activities during the CLE are designed to expand on the knowledge from coursework, to practice clinical skills, and to participate in professional development through lectures, workshops, invited talks, roundtables, courses, and seminars. This event highlights the transdisciplinary nature of programing at Saybrook University.
