Satisfactory Academic Progress

Satisfactory Academic Progress is evaluated at the close of each semester to ensure that students are successfully progressing through the course requirements. All degree/certificate seeking students are evaluated against quantitative (rate of progress) and qualitative (GPA) metrics in accordance with Federal Guidelines.

The full Satisfactory Academic Progress policy can be found in the Academic Catalog (link: https://catalog.saybrook.edu/content.php?catoid=120&navoid=11947#sap).

For students who receive notification of their Pending Probation status, please work with your Department Chair to submit an Academic Recovery Plan (Click Here for Form) that includes a course breakdown showing the requirements/courses needed to return to Good Standing. You can use the GPA Calculator (link: https://apps.saybrook.edu/Academics/GPA-Calculator) to determine what courses are needed to meet the 3.0 GPA and 66.67% Rate of Progress thresholds.
